Basement Remodeling · South Jersey
Most basement remodels start with the same handful of frustrations. Here are the two we hear most often, and how we solve each one.
You have an entire level of the home that nobody really uses. The kids have outgrown the toy area. There is no room upstairs for an office, a gym, or a guest suite. The basement is technically there, but it has been a storage room for as long as you can remember.
We start by understanding how your family wants to use the space, and then we design the basement around those answers. That can mean a playroom for the kids, a dedicated home office, a gym you will actually use, a guest suite with a full bath, or a kitchenette that turns the space into a true second living area.
We plan for flexibility too, so the room that works for your kids today still works for you when they are grown. Every change is shown to you in a 3D rendering before construction begins, so you know exactly how the new basement will function before framing begins.
The ceiling is low and exposed. The lighting is harsh and uneven. The floor is cold. The walls feel like a different building. The basement is finished in the technical sense, but the moment you walk down the stairs, you can tell you have left the rest of the house behind.
We finish the basement to the same standard as the floors above. That means millwork and built-ins that feel custom, doors and trim that match the rest of the home, and premium flooring that holds up to daily use. We add upgraded lighting throughout the space and, where it makes sense, consider egress window options to bring in more natural light.
For homeowners who want a true second living level, we also build in sound-dampening and dedicated climate control, so the basement is comfortable to use year-round.
Read how each project transformed the basement and the everyday life of the family that uses it.
We transformed a basement for a family that wanted unused square footage to become a true second living area. We opened the staircase to make the entire level feel more connected to the home above, built a kitchenette with custom cabinetry, and designed a reading area with built-in wall niches that fit the existing foundation.
Lifestyle Design + Remodel was built around the parts of remodeling that other contractors get wrong. Here is what we do differently.
From design through construction and final walkthrough, you work with a dedicated team that knows your project inside and out. We are here for more than the construction phase, we aim to build lasting relationships with homeowners who trust us with their homes again and again.
Most remodels go over budget because too many decisions are made after the work begins. Our project development phase locks in the layout, materials, and pricing before a single wall comes down. You get a fixed-price agreement, 3D renderings of your finished space, and a client portal where you can track every decision, document, and update from start to finish.
We guide our clients with full transparency. We simplify the decisions in front of you, set realistic expectations, and never push upgrades you do not need. The goal is to help you make good calls about your home, not to talk you into a bigger project.
Construction does not have to take over your life. Our team shows up in marked vehicles and company apparel, cleans up at the end of every day, and uses zip-wall systems to keep dust contained. Project managers carry no more than three or four jobs at a time, so your remodel gets the attention it deserves.
Basement pricing depends on the size of the space, how many rooms you want to build out, and the materials you choose. The tiers below are starting points based on our most common basement projects. Final pricing is always defined in writing during your project development phase.

Every project follows the same proven path. Here is what to expect from the first phone call to the final walkthrough.
This is a quick call for us to learn what you are thinking about, followed by a site visit to see the space in person. No pressure, no sales pitch.
We come back with a clear scope, a conceptual layout, and an investment range so you know what your project is likely to cost before you commit to anything beyond a conversation.
Once you decide to move forward, we finalize the layout, walk through the materials with our vendor designers, deliver 3D renderings, and lock in a fixed-price build agreement with confirmed start and completion dates.
Our team works on daily cleanup, weekly check-ins, and a clear schedule you can follow in JobTread. When the job is done, we walk through every detail with you, hand over your warranty packet, and stay available long after the project closes out.
Most of our clients ask some version of these. If yours isn’t here, give us a call — we’re happy to talk before you’re ready.
Most of our basement projects run between 8 and 16 weeks, depending on the size of the space and how many rooms are being built out. A foundational single-room finish typically lands in the eight to ten week range. An elevated multi-room basement takes 10 to 12 weeks. A premier basement with a bedroom, bathroom, and full-feature set runs 12 to 16 weeks. We confirm your finalized start and completion dates during the project development phase, before construction begins.
Yes. Adding a bedroom requires an egress window or door per code, which is included in our Premier tier. Bathrooms can be added at the Elevated or Premier tier, depending on whether plumbing already exists in the space. We walk through these decisions during the project development phase, including the cost and timeline impact, before any work moves forward.
Not if it is finished correctly. At the Elevated and Premier tiers, we install a dedicated HVAC system (typically a mini-split) so the basement maintains its own temperature independent of the floors above. We also use insulation, climate-appropriate flooring, and finishes designed to keep the space comfortable year-round.
Taylor and Ryan lead the layout and design work directly. For material selection, we work with the designers at our preferred vendors who help you choose flooring, lighting, finishes, and any cabinetry the project requires. You receive 3D renderings of your finished basement before construction begins, so the basement you see in the renderings is the basement we build.
The point of our project development phase is to settle every decision before construction starts, which is why change orders are rare on our basement projects. If something does come up during the build, we walk you through the options, the cost, and the schedule impact in writing before any work moves forward.
Yes. We file for permits as part of the production phase, before materials arrive on site. Egress window installations, plumbing additions, and electrical work all require permits, which are built into your project timeline.
Every basement we build comes with a two-year warranty on our installations, plus the manufacturer’s warranties on the products and materials we use.
